system freezes past loading screen

Postby adrianHOOHAHA on Wed Apr 24, 2013 6:51 am

i have a new problem now. I have a dualboot setup between win8 and linux mint. now i want opensuse in the unallocated space in my hdd. i tried installing openSUSE with a KDE Live CD but when it's the stage when I edit partitions, the partitions weren't arranged the same way it was arranged when I used gparted. i aborted it. then a black screen with a blinking "_" appeared. it went on for quite some time then I thought that there was something happening wrong and decided to eject the live cd and hard reset the laptop. when I pressed the power button, windows boot manager appeared, and I chose Linux to boot. it went past the loading screen then the cursor appeared. (i disabled mdm login manager as i'm the only one using). i can move it but just for a short time, like 5 seconds, then the cursor freezes.

can you identify my problem here? wondering if I will do a full install again. :|
