access grub and linux mint

I had installed window xp and then install linux mint, i choose not to install the bootloader because i will not be able to boot into window xp and linux mint base on past experience.Now I wanted to install the grub to replace the window bootloader to boot into either window xp and linux mint.Now how can i access the grub and install it over window bootloader without having to mess up the mbr and having me to reinstall windows again.I am using LM 4.0

I suggest that linux mint to be made dual boot friendly with window.

Mint Linux is dual boot friendly. During installation if you had installed the bootloader it automatically picks up windows and displays the option at boot. If you have not customised the installation I would suggest just re-installing. My knowledge is not good enough to suggest any other option. Hope this helps.
