Re: buffer error I/O device fd0 on installing elyssa
The floppy error is something that has appeared for all (?) Mint editions and is the result of the installer not liking your hardware. Problems recognizing or loading anything to do with the filesystem
8x is actually a bit fast - perhaps
Can you verify the disk - I think Brasero has that option in Daryna and definitely in Elyssa
I don't remember if it's called verify but that is what's being done
Even if you don't have a floppy your motherboard may have a floppy controller. If so try to switch it off in BIOS

Re: buffer error I/O device fd0 on installing elyssa
thanks husse, i knew i can count on you
i disabled floppy controller in BIOS, and now i get the following:
BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5Ubuntu12) Built-in shell(ash)
Enter 'help' to view commands
(initramfs)_
Does this tell anyone anything?

Try Compatability mode
And also check the troubleshooter
http://www.linuxmint.com/wiki/index.php ... ur_Live_CD
It is not as comprehensive as I would like it to be, but the most common solutions are there

It may not be a bad cd after all. I'm also going to try this. TFS.
