Running Gparted from live cd

Postby Eric Weir on Wed Jun 11, 2008 3:20 pm

I've downloaded and burned the Gparted live cd. How do I run it? Clicking on the binary doesn't work. From the terminal? What command?

Thanks,

You burn the ISO just the same as you would a linux live CD. Put it in your CD drive, and reboot.

I know how to burn it. I've already done so. I want to run it. Putting it in the drive and rebooting doesn't cause it to run. Neither does clicking on the binary. I assume a terminal command is necessary.

Guidance, even instructions, would be appreciated.\

Something has gone wrong. It will boot to a grub menu if it is working correctly, just like a live CD. You might try checking the md5 sum

Thanks. I've got the md5sum, but don't have anything to check it against. I downloaded from sourceforge and couldn't find the md5sum there. It's not on the cd, either. I'll check sourceforge again.

Thanks again,

I went into the bios and set the machine to boot from the cd and when I rebooted it ran.

Still wondering what was wrong with my copy, I went to the Gparted website looking for the md5sum for the live cd, and found this: "To use the GParted livecd, you must set up your bios to boot off cd!" See http://gparted.sourceforge.net/larry/li ... livecd.htm

Problem solved. Nothing wrong with my copy.

I was under the impression you were using Mint and would already have had your bios set to boot from CD, since a linux cd won't run without that setting.
