Hi !
bloodember wrote:HI guys,
I've looked all over the forums for an answer and I can't find one so I'll just ask it. When trying to install Mint 5 on my main computer the installer just won't work. It just goes to a command line then gives me all these errors after sitting a few minutes.
You've not really given us much to go on ... you say you get "All these errors" but don't actually say what they are ?

Please post all the errors you get so that we may at least have a chance of helping you :)

Mike.

It may be the nvidia card - some nvidia cards (like my 6600 GT) can't use the "nv" driver
Try compatability mode (press any key during initial countdown)
Or can you boot the live CD but not install?

Hi !

I think you will find the fix for this here :

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=767668

Basically you need to add the following to the kernel boot options :

Code: Select all

noapic acpi=off
and again to the grub menu.lst file once Mint is installed.

It is all covered in the posting I have referenced above.
I hope this gets you going !

then goes to saying these errors then repeats the ata2 errors

ata1.00: revalidation failed (errno= -5)
ata2.00: revalidation failed (errno= -5)
ata2.00: Exception Emask 0x0 Sact 0x0 Serv 0x0 ation 0x2 Frozen
ata2.00: Status: DRDY

Husse: it won't even boot to live CD.
