Install Mint on Pendrive - Stalling!

Hi!

I am new to this forum and relatively new to linux in general! For I have heard, that Mint is far better than Ubuntu, I thought Id give it a try and began installing it on a pendrive as learned in pendrivelinux.com.
I copied the 4.0 image to the pendrive and started fixmint.bat.
Start was fine but after a while it stopped working (at least to my eyes) so after waiting for half an hour or so, I decided to close the terminalwindow and with it the installation-process.

So my questions: Could it be that I was too impatient; means: for how long does phase one last normally
two: what could be the problem of the stalling!

Tried with Dell Latidude D600, WinXP, 2Gig-USB-Stick (Hama)!

I have had this problem before. Although it may have been a different issue go ahead and try this and let me know what happens. Boot to your bios and turn off all of your hard drives. Note what your doing so you can go back and change it. Now stick in your thumb drive and and try to boot to Mint. Whether it stalls or not go back and fix your bios and let me know what happened.

After posting I found out that apparantly my laptop is too old to start from a pendrive. So installing linux to pendrive is obsolete for me!
