Data Raid1 on LM 14 new install strange behavior

I have recently installed LM 14 KDE on a 1TB Samsung drive leaving kubuntu 12.10 on a 250GB WD just until I can get some things ironed out. Specifically, I my raid1 array. I have been studying posts here for possible resolutions, but none quite fit. My raid is a mirror that I use to hold 'Stuff" and sometimes when I restart the machine for whatever reason, I will get the initramfs prompt. I exit that and it continues to load and when it comes up and I login, I open a terminal and find that my raid /dev/md127 has been mounted just as the partitions are configured on my system drive: viewed using

Note of course that blkid for /dev/md127 is different than what is in mdadm.conf file. I have read posts that instruct to put the uuid from mdadm.conf into fstab do:
and all would be will. I did try this, restarted my machine and my raid was not found. I imagine I have done something wrong here. So I could really use some feedback. I'm new to LM but not new to Linux.
