To start with, English isn't my native language, so please forgive me some mistakes. Also i am complete Linux noob. If wikipedia had article about Linux noobs, my photo would be there.
I have MSI GT60-0nc gaming laptop, it came with Windows 7 onboard, wich i upgraded to Win 8 long time ago. It doesn't have UEFI, but i still experiencing problems with dual-booting LM and W8. I have 2 HDDs, one is 128 GB SSD, and second one is 500 GB HDD. Windows is installed on SSD drive. I shrinked 60 GB of second drive and wanted to install LM there. Installation went smooth, but after reboot I couldn't boot neither W8 nor LM. I didn't see any GRUB menu as well. To recover my W8 I booted LM from usb stick, and found solution on the internet, something involved Lilo and some terminal commands. After that i could boot W8 and i gave up on LM at that point. Fortunately, I've got an old Sony Vaio laptop to experiment with, and I installed LM there as the only OS with no problems. But it is old and has really bad display, and i travel alot and I cant carry all my devices with me, so I'd like to install LM on my main laptop. I have to keep W8 on it because of Final Fantasy 14 MMO wich is not running on LM even with Wine and Playonlinux, otherwise I would delete W8. How can I install LM on my disc D? I didn't find any information regarding this, all guides I've found assuming installation of both OS on the same drive.
