mintDisk on boot?

Postby itchanddino on Thu Mar 08, 2007 1:45 am

I was reading about mintDisk, and I like the idea and all, but does it auto start when you boot with the liveCD? It would be perfect for me if it didn't :) Thanks!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

When you boot with the live CD you don't find any disks mounted - at least I did not :)
I beleive this is the "default" behaviour for Live CDs

mintDisk checks for os-prober (which is installed in the LiveCD but not after the install). If os-prober is present, mintDisk doesn't do anything.

os-prober checks for other OSs and is used to update Grub with an entry to Microsoft Windows for instance. The problem with os-prober is that it doesn't like partitions to be mounted (I know.. don't tell me about it...) so for that reason mintdisk is deactivated when os-prober is there.
