LM 16 Installer Crashes

I'm having trouble installing Linux Mint 16. It will only install in Compatibility Mode (though it seems to otherwise run fine in the other) and I get dconf permission errors (http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=109609) if I don't remove the ubiquity slideshow. It crashes creating the user if I try to encrypt my home folder. Are these bugs? I mean it installs, but I wonder what could have gone wrong under the hood.
I tried multiple times, using the same partition I always have, wiping it after each failed attempt (with gparted.) It's an SSD, barely a year old, I've setup Windows and previous linux installs to minimize writes and enable TRIM and all that.
It's been a few days now, other than a few lockups (while the sound kept playing), I think it's running okay. But I still would like to do it over again and have it not just baaaarely install (and encrypt it too.)
