Can liveCD repartition my hard drive?

Postby Trademark Hero on Thu Jul 24, 2008 6:24 pm

Hey guys. Quick question? Can the liveCD for Linux Mint repartition my hard drive? How would I go about doing that? And if not the Linux Mint, then another liveCD that can? I want to resize my Linux partition and delete and merge my Dell Mediadirect and Dell Recovery partitions.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

You can use gparted from the mint live cd to resize many types of partitions. Give it a try.

Yes I found that now. Thank you. I set it up so that my Recovery would get erased, I would move my Vista partition to the left, and then merge Mint with what was formerly Recovery. But it wouldn't let me move Vista, I got an error anytime it got to that partition. Maybe it's a permissions thing.

You cannot just move a partition around like your trying. Since it's been formed at the beginning, middle, or end of the drive you can resize it in either direction to move, but just moving it from one end of the drive to the other instantly won't work.
