Installation Stuck at Config. Hardware

Postby starkid on Sun Jan 05, 2014 7:21 pm

I'm currently trying to install Mint 14 x64 XFCE edition. I know it isn't the latest release, but I'd already downloaded this version and don't want to take the time to download another.

I checked my disk for integrity, and it came out no errors. However, the installation has been showing "Configuring Hardware" for about an hour now, and doesn't seem to be progressing. Coming from Ubuntu, I'm used to installs taking forever but this seem excessive.

I had the same problem yesterday and eventually aborted the install by shutting down the system. Is there something I can do about this? Even if I try the latest version, I've a suspicion the same problem will arise. I don't know what hardware issue could be the problem, except for the recurrent issue with nvidia cards that drove me away from Ubuntu.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

The first thing I do when troubleshooting a computer is
make sure the ram and hdd are ok.

Boot from a live cd of just about any linux distro
Run memtest 100%

Esc and boot to live cd desktop
Open Menu
Find Disks (aka Gnome-disk-utility)
All drives should say "Disk is OK"
Any bad sectors means the drive is no good.
