Laptop hangs when booting on battery solved

Postby jnwalsh on Wed Aug 13, 2008 4:25 pm

Hi there,

I have a Toshiba L30-10V with Elyssa installed.

It boots fine while connected to ac power but will not startup running on battery.

It gets as far as "*Setting Perliminary Keymap.." and goes no further.

Hard powering down, re-connect ac power and it boots no problem.

Battery is good - previously had dual boot XP & Ubuntu 8.04, with no problems booting on battery.

Thank's... John

Do you use verbose boot?
This is anyway around when X is started and that could mean an extra power need which the battery may not provide

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

existing command
root=/dev/sda1/ ro quiet splash
