every time i try to boot the live cd, it hits a wall. i tried using the post above to solve my issue, but removing "quiet splash --" and replacing it with different combination of noapic, nolapic, etc. only seems to change where it crashes.
i'm completely inexperienced with linux, and using a dell optiplex 320 (i read in some other forums that there have been issues with other optiplex models)
the strange thing is that i downloaded VirtualBox and the live cd seems to run fine in it, with the exception of one error message about "starting the GNOME Settings Daemon".
not sure what to do at this point. is there something in the bios i need to change?
