If I understand the question correctly (you are wanting to install KDE on Linux Mint after installing from normal mint cd), these instructions should work.

1. Click Elyssa (or whatever your main menu button is).
2. Click Software Portal
3. Click APT
4. Type knoppix-desktop in the box and click install.

if those directions don't work (maybe you have a different version than me and the directions don't make sense) then this will definately work.

1. Click your main menu button.
2. Click Terminal
3. type: sudo apt-get install knoppix
4. press enter, put in your password and hit enter again.
5. If apt asks anything, press y and hit enter
6. type exit and hit enter

KDE should now be avalible from the sessions menu on the login screen
