could not find kernel image: linux

Postby keith_aquino on Mon Sep 08, 2008 8:42 am

Hey guys! I've been exposed to Mint just three days ago. I'm a Windows user, and I've decided to migrate to Linux.

After three frustrating days of attempts, I've decided to ask the pros. Do you know how to deal with this problem: "could not find kernel image: linux"? I encountered this when booting from my usb flashdrive. :?

I'm using fixmint2.exe and extracting Elyssa 5.0 with it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! :D

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

This normally means a bad CD
I am not at all familiar with fixmint2.exe so I can't help you with that
Normally there is no problem installing from a USB pendrive, but it is not the official way
This is a good guide

Did you check the md5sum of the ISO
Most Windows users don't know that you could, and should, check the integrity of downloads
In Windows you have to install some third party program - search for md5sum Windows
Note it is the entire ISO you should check

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
