I would download the Gparted Live CD partitioner and wipe out that partition with it. Reformat it with a fat file system, and then throw in some pictures and music files, so on and so forth, make it look like you are using it for storage, and keep your fingers crossed.

If you have your Windows disk boot it and run the fix mbr routine. If you don't have the disk, hopefully you have another computer you can use to download and burn the latest stable version of Supergrub disk live cd iso, (link below), and you can restore your Windows mbr from it.

Hi,
I'm a newbie, but when I had a dual boot with windows xp, all I did was insert my xp rescue disk and at the command promt typed fixmbr and pressed enter, and this restored the original windows boot system. I then had to delete the linux partition using the windows partitiononing tool and it worked fine for me.

As Fred indicates try Super Grub Disk (SGD).

You mentioned a grub error. I'm used to see an error number. That will help and you can search on the SGD forum for some help, or if you want some good reading - look at the grub manual:
