Grub default boot problem

Postby nick1122 on Fri Oct 17, 2008 1:35 am

I have linux mint installed on a sony vaio laptop dual booting with vista. On the grub menu there are two entries for vista, the first one a vaio recovery option and the second vista itself.
How do I make grub boot into vista by default. I have tried changing the default number in menu.lst with everything between 0 and 6, but it only chooses the recovery partition, not vista itself. Anybody know how to fix it?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Try this tool:
sudo apt-get install startupmanager

Its a very nifty gui program that allows you to configure grub and your bootsplash. I have used it to change default boot partition with success.
