Disk Error 10 - Linux Mint wont start

Postby squigglethecow on Fri Nov 07, 2008 11:17 pm

I downloaded and burnt Linux Mint 5. I burnt it at 1x speed since I have had issues burning ISO's in the past and wanted to be 100% sure it wouldn't skrew something up.

The mint boot menu loads, and I can choose 'Start Linux Mint', 'Start Linux Mint in Computability Mode' and 'memory test''

The first two result in the error:

Loading isolinux: Disk error 10, AX = 427e, drive EF
Boot Failed: press any key to retry

I tested my memory when installing buntu (simply because I found it to be a nifty feature, I'm new to linux) and there were no errors.

I have searched around the forum but cant seem to find anyone with the same issue, any suggestions?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I MD5Sum and checked the ISO, and it says the check sums are different. I assume thats a bad thing.

I decided to download mint via torrent this time since torrents check the file as its downloading, and I will run the MD5sum utility to check ti before I burn the ISO.

If someone else has the same issue as I did, download the program Md5Sum and check the ISO file.

I'll post once I get mint working for sure.

Same problem with the distro ISO image from teh site either at high or low burn speed. 4 hour download and 2 shiny coasters wasted. Any idea where we can get a clean ISO image? :?:
