I am a new member here, i have a question. i am using as typed this the live CD and i have not yet installed the OS Elyssa 5, do i need a chip set drivers? i have the GA- EP-43-DS3L and you know when you build a sys. the 1st thing to do is after installing the OS is to run their Xpress install with all drivers for the board, again will it be safe to install my linux? i am also planning to update my bios soon i just have to download w/my other sys. and update this new board. i will appreciate the help if someone can advise that it is safe to install this OS Elyssa 5
i have a SeaGate 120gig, CPU Q9550 2.83 ghz, 2gig of dual channel memory from crucial (ballistix), super -writemaster optical sata DVD witer (samsung) video the XFX GeForce 8800 GTS Alpha Dog Edition, and El Diablo case.

That's pretty similar to my system, it should work straight out of the box. You'll just have to install the proper Nvidia drivers - connect to the internet, let "hardware drivers" download and install the driver it wants and then use Envy to upgrade the driver to the newest version (if you don't let the hardware drivers utility run first Envy picks an older driver for some reason).

If anything on the motherboard doesn't work Gigabyte will refer you to the vendor of each individual chip for drivers as they don't do linux support...

Pluraldave, thanks for the response i hard to get someone to give you some help here. ok. like i said i am new to Linux, i am assuming that i will just click on the "hardware drivers" button and it will install by itself and after that hit the Envy options and it will be done for me, right?

Pretty much. You might have to click install and/or enable in hardware drivers to get it going. (and possibly reboot?) Either way it's pretty straight forward if you just give it a go. With envy just select Nvidia and automatic detection and I think it does the rest.
