cant boot from cd.

i tryed booting from livecd, but cd reads it for about a minute and a half then continues to boot winxp. the cd will boot on my other computers and this computer has booted from any other livecd's. any help with this would be nice.

have your tried burning mint again?
It could have been a bad media.
have you checked the download? to make sure it is not bad.

well i would try that but since the cd works perfectly in my other computers, i didnt think that was the problem.

Try swapping the CD drive with one the CD does work in.
If it is not media it could be the CD Drive.

well i forgot one issue

im trying to run it on a laptop.

You could try putting Mint on a USB stick drive and booting off it (if you can boot of USB).
I created one on a 1GB USB drive.
the hard part can be the partitioning of it.
I used fdisk first and then gparted to fix it up (start again).

well i cant get anything to work. cant figure out why it will work on everything except this.

The Wiki is there for you to use.
It could be that your laptop can't use the video driver selected and when that happens it "falls back" to booting XP
