recovery required on readonly filesystem

Post by HerrDierk »

Hello Folks,

yesterday I installed the FGLRX driver from the drivermanager. Never had any problems with it, although I admit it never worked for a 100%.
When booting my system it was a little slower than before. No problem.
But when I looked at the messages in syslog I found this ->

Code: Select all

[ 11.230666] EXT4-fs (sda6): INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem
[ 11.230689] EXT4-fs (sda6): write access will be enabled during recovery
[ 13.676002] EXT4-fs (sda6): recovery complete
[ 13.685702] EXT4-fs (sda6): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Opts: (null)
These messages do return on every boot. Sometimes my drive is checked on start-up for errors but nothing found. I've never had this problem before. Maybe my disk is bad? I don't know. Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance !

It could be hardware claiming ''written'' when it means ''cached''...or it could be software assuming ''cached'' means ''written''. At any time, but especially just before switching off, you can force cached blocks out to storage with a...
Alt-SysRq-S
...keypress. Then shut down normally.

Mute Ant, thanks for your answer. For a noob like me, it is rather a riddle, but I can live with it, haha.

Thanks anyway :)
