Re: Proper way to dualboot LM 17.2 + Win8?
I understand that but I read in some tutorials that I would need to change settings in UEFI whereas it seems in 17.2 all I need to do is disable Secure Boot? Which one is right?Pierre wrote:there are many such tutorials:

is just one.
Re: Proper way to dualboot LM 17.2 + Win8?
Can anyone confirm this? It's possible to only disable secure boot and leave UEFI/fast boot settings/etc. as it is?
Re: Proper way to dualboot LM 17.2 + Win8?
you should be able to disable secure-boot as that is only for win-8x
but you would still need the UEFI bit to boot your PC.
- win-8x may fail to boot if the secure-boot is left off.
generally, if you install Mint & then turn secure-boot back on, then you can boot both.
but2- it does seem to vary from PC to PC as the manufacturers vary how they implement this standard.
