I've made a new installation with Mint 6 under Windows and it never asked me some passwords during install .... the result is i'm jammed with my login screen . Cannot login . Is it what happened to you ???

That is wrong - I suspect a bad CD. And yes you can get that far and the CD is bad anyway
Did you check the md5sum if the ISO and burned as slow as possible
And delete the install you made - it does not work as it should. If my memory serves me right you can just delete the installed Mint when you used mint4win

I am having the same problem.
I downloaded mint, installed mint 4 win, and then wen I rebooted I got the login screen, asking for a username and password. To my knowledge, I never set up either. I tried my windows passowrd/username but of course, no luck...

Any ideas?

This could be a bug - two of the same
We had to tweak wubi considerably to get mint4win - maybe something happened in the process
I hope to get some kind of answer fairly soon

You have to have a username and password:(I believe the username will be changed to lowercase, if it has any capital letters in it.)

At the time of my first answers I had not installed with mint4win, which I have now. There is no way you can install without giving a user name and password - as long as no bug appears
How did the two of you install - do you recognise the screenshots?

turns out I'm just an idiot.
I was a little distracted when I was installing, and I think I just forgot the username.
