Trouble booting from install disk

Postby gausie on Fri Jan 02, 2009 4:27 pm

Hi all - trying Mint for the first time after three years of Ubuntu.
In the boot process, vmlinux and initrd.gz are loaded, then I get the following error

(initramfs) [ 69.42686 ] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1361424
[ 69.426535 ] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 170178

I'd really like to give Mint a fair try - how can I solve this problem?

Cheers, Gausie

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I think it's a bad CD
Did you check the md5sum and burned at the slowest speed possible. Also Brasero in Intrepid (and so Felicia) is crap, so if you used it you have to burn again - you can update Brasero from getdeb

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
