I have come into possession of a brand new laptop and it comes with Windows 10. I'm not a fan so I thought I'd give Mint a try, so I got hold of a dvd with 17.3 Cinnamon on it, switched from UEFI to Legacy, bunged the dvd in the drive and booted.
What happened next is that I got the following messages:

Everything seemed to be fine from that point on -- aside from no wireless access -- but those error messages worry me enough that I am not yet ready to switch operating systems.
I'm not a total novice -- I've successfully installed Ubuntu on a number of machines without any trouble -- but these messages have got me spooked, the one about the "broken bios" most of all.
So:
1) What does all that stuff mean?
2) Should I be worried?
3) How can I fix it?

Any advice and help would be much appreciated. I will stick with Windows 10 if I have to but I'd much rather not!
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also tried the same disc in UEFI with Secureboot turned off. It took a lot longer than it did under Legacy, and I got a list of other errors similar to the above; they flashed by too quickly for me to record them, alas.
