The issue does NOT occur when you enter the "safe" mode and I "fixed" the issue by changing the driver, in the XORG config file from ati to vesa, but this is not a long term fix.
Is there any way to force a re-probing of the video/monitor that would allow me to select the proper driver, or will I have to edit the setting by hand? Also, is there a default ati driver that may offer less control but is smoother than vesa?
ALSO:
- I have an ATI 80xx series all-in-wonder card.
The monitor is 17" generic, but I have no specs as to monitor's acceptable freq.
This same issue occurs when I boot the standard UBUNTU.
