Install error : The display server has been shut down...

Postby clupetz on Wed Mar 18, 2009 6:29 pm

Hi all,

I am having difficulties to install Linux Mint (tested with version 6 Felicia - Main edition, live CD and tested with 6 Felicia - Universal edition, DVD). I boot from live CD and going through install process. And I am getting Error message : " The display server has been shut down about 6 times in the last 90 seconds. It is likely that something bad is going on. Waiting for 2 minutes before trying again on display :0. "

I checked forum for same problem : http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=21987&p=136120#p136120

I tried to install it in Compatibility mode and having same problem. I tried to do some magic with my mouse but no joy. Same problem. As it was mentioned before I dont have problem to install Ubuntu, Kubuntu and other distributions. I wold like to have Mint because is great and I just love simplicity. I got mint installed on my laptop but I want to install it on my laptop to get rid of Windows.

Any Idea hot to resolve problem ? Thanks lads in advance

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I recognise the error but I'll have to search a while for the solution (because I think I remember it was solved)
Have to come back to you when I have more time

Well I saw that post and I could not resolve problem before. I was sick of windows so I tried about 15th time to install Mint. I was clicking with mouse all over the screen and pressing spacebar as fast as I could and I finally managed to install Mint.

I suggest to put this solution to documentation :)

Can't find anything useful on this other than I see Paralells mentioned frequently
Mouse gestures seems to be a helper at times
