Newbie needs installation and partition advice on netbook.

Postby polkadotteapot on Fri Apr 03, 2009 8:28 pm

Hello, I'm new to this so please be nice to me.

After having a go at ubuntu I've found this version which I prefer. I downloaded the felicia 6 .iso and used unetbootin to try and install it. The wizard ran fine till the partition bit of the installation, it wouldn't let me do anything, didn't give me any options, and I couldn't go forward or back and had to quit. Can anyone help?

I'm on an Acer Aspire One netbook with no access to an optical drive. I'm trying to find mint4win but can't seem to find it by itself anywhere.

Also As this is based in ubuntu is there the same problem with the internet not working? If so what can be done to rectify it?

Thank you.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I'm not the best person to help, but a couple of thoughts:

1) Did you check the Md5 sum for the disk?

2) Mint uses WiCd rather than Network Manager -- this should help alleviate any wifi issues.

Good luck!

Ok, sorry but,

1) What is the the Md5 sum for the disk?

2) Mint uses WiCd rather than Network Manager -- this should help alleviate any wifi issues. - I'll get on to this once I've sorted out 1.

Thank you.

I assume you're using Main, so try this one...

As far as checking it, look here, basically just
Code: Select all
> md5sum <filename>

in a terminal.
For windows, I think this is the one I've used winMD5sum
