Cannot boot Windows Vista after install.

Postby djwright745 on Sat Apr 04, 2009 4:08 pm

First, I installed Linux Mint 6 on my second partition. Then I installed Windows XP Pro with SP3 on the first partition. Then I installed Vista Home Edition over that, being unhappy with XP Pro. Afterwards, I could not boot Linux Mint because (I think) the boot loader had been deleted. I thought that a Fresh install of Linux Mint 6 on the second partition would restore my boot loader. It did, however, when I boot windows, it brings me back into grub at the same menu that I had just chosen to boot windows from. Does anyone have any idea what may have caused this?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Also, it might be important that I tried to:

Code: Select all
sudo grub
> root (hd0,0)
> setup (hd0)
> exit

as someone had advised, but recieved some error message after:

Code: Select all
setup (hd0)
