64Bit CD loads to Terminal - Cannot install

Postby halodweller on Thu Apr 09, 2009 3:54 pm

Hello all.

I decided to give the 64bit Distro a whirl and my ISO burned no issues, but when I boot off CD LinuxMint just loads into Terminal and I am unsure how to get it to install from there. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Did you check the md5sum and burned as slow as possible?

I downloaded a new copy of the iso and burned it at 8X as opposed to 24X. The MD5Sum from the download page reads: 776a1f32847fc0dfe15b3b4a180086e7

The MD5Sum.txt files contains the following info and I don't see that MD5 there.

Am I looking in the wrong place for the MD5? I loaded the laptop in question into windows and was able to run the lmmenu.exe app and tell the machine to reboot for Demo and Install, but it also just loads to terminal. The text moves too fast for me to catch any errors.

Thank you.

Do you have any installed Linux?
In Linux (rather bash) you always have access to the md5sum creation in terminal
In Windows you have to install a third party program to calculate the md5sum and it is the sum of the entire ISO that is to be calculated

I have a 32 bit laptop running LinuxMint I will check the md5 there and get back to you. Am I just looking for a discrepancy in the numbers?

Thank you.
