This is very enlightening, but unfortunately it does not help
udev is the device manager in the kernel - it handles dev(ices) (like /dev/sda
modprobe is the part of the kernel that loads modules (like udev)
When I google for "run_program: '/sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit" I find a lot of Toshiba laptops so there seems to be some component used by Toshiba that the kernel does not like
The solution I have found is to use
as a boot option
You select Compatibility mode and then add this to the line you see at the bottom like described in the troubleshooter
