Is it possible to uprade to Ubuntu 9.04 from Linux Mint 6?

Postby kiwisoup on Tue Apr 21, 2009 10:14 pm

Within Ubuntu 8.10 you can run the "update-manager -d" command to upgrade to 9.04 (RC for now), and I know Linux Mint 6 is basically Ubuntu 8.10 at its core, but what would happen if I did this same command within Linux Mint 6?

Would it cause problems? Would it work and just get rid of the Mint components? Anybody know? Because I really want to install the new Ubuntu before Linux Mint 7 Gloria comes out which will probably be a couple months based on past history of releases.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Would it cause problems?

That's just the first name...
It would make a mess of your Mint and the result is unpredictable - most likely something that might boot but not much more and it would definitely not be Mint
And we are deviating more and more from Ubuntu
We will provide an upgrade tool from Felicia to Gloria

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
