seems to be locked so posting here.
I am unable to boot the felicia livecd into X. It drops to the command prompt during boot.
The basic problem seems to be this when I tried startx:
(EE) VESA(0): No valid modes
(EE) Screens(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
I'll have another crack at it if anyone feels they can help guide me a bit. The Wiki page above under "Motherboard problems" is how many combinations to try? I had a go at compatibility mode, noapic, vga=787, but really, life is too short to blindly try every combo.
So instead I burnt Ubuntu's 9.04rc (release candidate). On booting it crashed, BUT, their boot menu includes an option to install directly (without booting from the livecd). I tried this and it installed flawlessly, including my graphics driver. I think Mint could really do with a direct install option or a text based installer.
A shame. I like Mint (used it on my last PC), but for my latest GT725-210UK laptop it seems broken. So Ubuntu it is for now...
