Microsoft (Wubdiws) designed their systems to run on a FAT32 format or a NTFS format/
Linux is designed to run on a Linux format usually ' ext3 ' .
I would say that the only safe way is to run the two types on separate partitions or drives, and use a Linux bootloader to select your system.
There are some cross over systems such asVMware hat will run the two systems on one format , but you lose some of the security and stability.

The app is called mint4win and I know Ubuntu has a similar app called Wubi that will install Ubuntu as an application running in Windows. I've never heard of anyone running both Mint and Ubuntu inside Windows at the same time. I don't know if it's possible, and if it is, would Ubuntu Grub set up the proper boot menu?

Your safest and probably easiest route is to install Ubuntu Studio in dual boot with Windows then install Mint to make it a triple boot. I've done this and it's relatively simple. I suggest installing Mint last because the Grub boot menu in Mint is so much easier to look at than the Ubuntu boot menu.

Further to A.T.

I have been multi-booting with Vista and six Linux distros. And have replaced Lnux versions many times. Multi-nooting with Grub gives me no problem.

StantheMan,

If you will read my post you will see that multibooting is exactly what I recommend. As I say in the post I have set up several triple and quadruple boots with and without Windows and never had trouble. What I am doubtful about is the possibility of running both Mint and Ubuntu Studio as applications inside Windows (via mint4win and wubi) at the same time.
