Distorted boot splash

Postby larche on Tue May 26, 2009 9:27 pm

Hello ,
I have this little problem with spalsh screen during boot.
splash is distorted it looks like out of sync monitor , few dotted lines.
I tried few suggestions that I found on the web but nothing seems to work,
for now I disabled splash but would like to fix it :) .

so what I tried is changing /etc/usplash.conf and reconfigured "sudo update-initramfs -u" .
this made things more interesting , I now can see the splash but it's miss aligned , what I mean is
I can see half of it on left side and other half on the right side.

I tried to add vga=791 and other modes in menu.lst - no luck.

I tried to add framebuffer modules to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules (vesafb , vga16fb) - same story , no luck.

ok now here is my config:
dell 9400/1705
nvidia 7800 go - 180.44 nv drivers
screen 1920x1200
gloria 7 linux mint - updated.

any ideas how can I try to fix my splash ?

Thanks.

I have written a couple of posts about usplash
this one is maybe not for your problem but I want to mention it
viewtopic.php?f=46&t=18591
and exploder has written this about the usplash size
viewtopic.php?f=46&t=17480&p=105370&hilit=size+usplash#p105370
Still valid as far as I know

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
