Replacing Ubuntu with Mint?

Postby geistschatten on Fri May 29, 2009 4:44 am

I currently use Ubuntu 9.04, dual-booted with Win XP.

I was wondering if I switch to Mint and install it, can it transfer all my files (meaning documents and such, not themes or icon packs) to the new installation during the install or will they be lost? And will my boot-loader become messed up?

Thanks for any help.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

If you have a separate /home partition, you can save your files, and settings too for that matter.
During install, just choose to mount your existing home partition as /home BUT DO NOT FORMAT IT!!!
