disk error 80

hello can someone please tell me what disk error 80 is? i get this error on both my desktop and my laptop when i try to test or install mint 6 or 7. mint 5 however seems to be ok but i really want to try the new one so any help or experience is appreciated.

according to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=220087 disk error 80 usually means your BIOS is broken, you may need to re-flash it somehow to get the latest versions to work. It is strange that you can get mint 5 though.
