Hey, i did exactly this conf BT3 + Mint on my flash stick , a pity i lost it.
But there's a procedure outta there, it's like you make one partition of 8 MB for grub installation, and 700 MB each partition for live-cd. (my case i installed Mint persistently), i don't remember details but that pendrivelinux.com should surely have the procedure.
