It seems at first look like it may be a bad CD.
Did the md5 sums check out at all stages of downloading and burning the CD?
Have you tried the disk on another system to see if it works?
Can you also give us some information about your computer?

Did you get this resolved? I am having the same problem. I would reinstall, but I am not sure what that would do to my initial install, overwrite it or beside it and winxp.
