I have this same problem, Inspiron 1501 AMD, Gloria boots from CD but not USB drive (two different USBs), weird.

Seems to hang on the broadcom ethernet driver(?)

I get a similar problem, where when I try booting my usb key I get a message that reads, "boot error", and that's it. No go.

Does anybody know how to get Mint going after the initramfs command? Is it possible?
