IBM T30 Mint 7 Install Notes

Postby beanedtea on Sun Jul 26, 2009 9:01 pm

I have installed mint!

The booting from the cd was incredibly slow. Most likely because I have an old, slow CD drive. If you have this one, make a bootable flash drive or something. I eventually got it to install with the speed of a sloth, so don't use slow cd drives.

I didn't need to install any drivers.

Getting the Wireless Internet to work
<The wired connection works automatically>
This took a bit of time. This is what I did:

1. In terminal:
Code: Select all
sudo lshw
2. Find your wireless card in that list.
Code: Select all
sudo mintwireless

4. Click the computer icons in the bottom right.
5. Select a network that it found.
6. Well, I don't know how to use a router with a wpa key, but I have a wep key. Look that up ;)
7. Enter WEP key.
8. DONE!

Just make sure system speakers AND os speakers are turned up.

ATI chipset reconized automaticly and works great.

That's all I have to write! Thanks for reading this install note!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.
