Configuration switching on the fly for X works! Audio??

Post by bitbanger »

One of the things I have learned about LinuxMint is that you can install the product to a USB drive on one machine and run it on another if you replace the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file with the correct version. (I steal it from the LiveCD boot up.) I have played this game with Bianca and Cassandra across five different computers.

I do this to keep one logical machine that I can run on any of the physical machines that I have access to. Maybe it is just dumb luck but I haven't had a problem with the GUI yet.

I have a computer that has stumbled on the audio configuration and I hope that there is a similar file and that someone out there knows which one it is.

Thanks!

You have been without answer too long now. Unfortunately I don't know the answer, but I believe the short answer is NO
There's also both OSS and Alsa
you could try (sudo) find /etc -name *alsa* -print
to see if there's any config files...
