Probably you do not have a large enough partition to install it to, or there is a hardware fault. Run the Mint Live CD, open a terminal and type "fdisk -l" and show us how you have set up the partitions.

Also, did this computer have Windows on it previously and if so was it working perfectly with no freezes?
