Installing Mint form usb drive

Postby Gumbotron on Fri Aug 07, 2009 10:10 am

I tried it before but it felt like somethin was missing when i installed it on my moms laptop and compared em both. so i reinstlled it through the usual live cd process. Was wonderin which was better. O and my cd burner doesnt work all the time when burnin.

Also if i upgrade instead of reinstallin the new release, will i get the ext4 partitions? how would i go about upgradin if i have my / and /home partition seperate?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

There should not be any difference between installing from a pen drive or a CD provided it's done correctly
If you upgrade no partitions are changed, but you will get the ext4 possibility
A warning - don't mix ext4 and ext3 in an extended partition
If you have home on a separate partition I recommend that you move all the hidden files and folders in home to a new folder in home
If not you may get a mix of new and old
When you are set bring forth the settings for different programs you have there and the programs work as before

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
