The output of fdisk -l (first listing) shows that none of your partitions has a boot flag! Perhaps that is the problem? You can fix it by running gparted from a Live CD.

Glad you got it fixed. Yes, there was another reply. :-) I took a second look at my post and realized there was an error in it and I needed to add something too. I was in a hurry so rather than leave it up and possibly mislead you and others I just deleted the post. Sorry if I confused you. :-)
