LiveCD Error

Hey, so when I put the CD in, it will say this thing like cdv/somthing......................................................... and then it makes another line with a different but similar thing. And then it says this error thing like "unable to soft reset" or somthing like that but then it starts into linux mint. I havent installed it yet, so is that why?

Either a corrupted download : check the md5 of your ISO file
Or a burning error : burn again the (md5 checked) ISO file at the lowest speed you can (usually 4x) and tell your burning software to check your disk after burning.

Hey, I tried burning it again on a different CD, and this time I did verify, and then I this error in the log, here look, I dont get it.

AFAIK Imgburner is a good soft. May be a failure of your CD burner

"ataX: softreset failed"? (Where X= a number). If so it's (probably) a bug with ide/sata controllers on some motherboards. If everything appears to work (and your CD burn is OK) then you should try installing.

Where do you find the "darn" signature on web site as indicated in User Guide? I'm not usually blind or dumb.

OK problem solved finally. Found it in download section.

The md5 that I found was not the same. It was 64e2a290fb51f8e7a9d058355fe93d0e. It corresponded to the signature I got when I made the md5 test. However, when I run the cd burned with ISO Recorder, I can't access Mint; it just keep "loading" after I clicked on "Start Mint" in startup menu. I just want to try Mint with CD. Can anyone help ?

So it's not a download error.
When you boot from CD, you should get a list with several options : start mint, memory test and so : try "check CD integrity".

OK... I'm a newbie to LinuxMint, but not a newbie around computers. It's hard to shed Windows out of mind. Here's the thing. When I started with the CD, a message promptly appeared "Autoboot will start in 6..5.."and so on. I did what I usually do under Windows : press ESC to skip intro. I learned that is not the way to go with Mint. This time I did not press ESC (was distracted by something) and behold I was in ! It works perfectly. The lesson is taken, I will try not to think Windows next time a mishap comes around. That's it guys. Fare well
