Xserver fails to start during install

Post by klogger »

When the install CD boots it freezes at the Mint logo. Before trying Mint I tried KUbantu and that had the same problem. When I put Kubantu into safe-grahics mode it exited with the error:
XServer exited witha status code of 1
Machine specs are:

Geforce 6800
2 AMD CPU's (not dual core)
1.5 Gig RAM

Is it possible to install with a text based installer that doesn't use X or are there any suggestions to getting X working?

As both CD's have failed with an error I suspect you have a hardware fault. Read this to solve:

Sorry for taking up your time, I think I was was just me being dim. I had the VGA cable connected to the wrong graphics card output. I have now been able to get the live CD working but am having a problem getting connected to my router. If I can get that working I will install over the existing Vista install.

Thanks for the reply.
