You have to check in your BIOS if the CD is bootable.

The system can boot on cd. In fact it will boot on windows xp, PE's and ubuntu hardy. I found out that it can boot hardy versions from ubuntu like gOS gadgets and mint 5.

I was just wondering if newer kernel won't boot on older pc, coz newer than hardy will not boot. Can somebody explain to why?

You probably have an invalid burn: you burned it as a data disc and not an image, or you did not check the md5sum before and after burning or you burned at too high a speed in crappy media. Or your CDROM writer is toast.

Not really, most of this cd's I burned are already tested ,it will boot this with my Intel PC it will boot fine. Most of the cd will boot but cannot continue. On a linux mint 7, I get kernell panic. On mint 6, it gives me error but I cannot remember the errors.

But if I'm going to boot puppy and hardy base distro, there's no problem on booting.

Those CD:s you mention, are they burned on the same computer? Are they of same fabric? Have you tried different fabricates?
Try to burn on the computer you are going to install on. I have had this problem on a HP laptop and when I burned the CD on it, the CD worked fine.

I had to turn RAID off on my HP. By default, I think HP turns it on so it can auto configure RAID. If you aren't using RAID, then you can turn it off (on the BIOS), install and turn it back on.

@Nicki: Yes they are burn on the same pc but different fabric. I burn it at low speed like 4x. I also tested it running on a different pc and it works fine it just a diff specs w/ no problem. the only thing I could remember that the pc has intel board.

@hinto: that I have to check first.

Like I said, if the distro w/ a newer kernel had that problem. But If the kernel is lower than the kernel of hardy then I don't have problem.

You'll have to go into the BIOS at boot and see what the configuration is.
