Questions about Grub, UEFI,the liveCD and the installer
My brother in law was being shipped overseas for miltary duty. On the day of his deployment, his laptop's windows installation went bad. His restores disks options were to restore to factory default (and delete everything), or to format the hard drive. With the linux mint live cd I was able to boot into linux. Unfortuanly I wasn't initially able to view the contents of the hard drive with out a error message. I looked up how to force mount the hard drive. Error message still popped up. But to my delite I double clicked the hard drive after this and was able to view the contents. Next I went and bought a seagate external hard drive. Plugged it in and linux mint instantly recognized it. Now I am copy over all of the files music and videos. Thank you so much!!!

Welcome to Linux Mint! We wish your brother-in-law all the best on his deployment.
They'll all look at me and say,
Hey look at him! I'll never live that way.
But that's okay -
They're just afraid to change.
